Centre for Graduate Entrepreneurship in Yorkshire (CGEY)

Yorkshire's universities are leading the UK in creating students and graduates who are enterprising and creative. The students and graduates within these universities started over 200 companies over the last year and over 87% of the all students entered into employment within 6 months of graduating. To further enhance the support provided to you in achieving your potential, the universities below have joined together to form the Centre for Graduate Entrepreneurship in Yorkshire.

The Centre is supported by delivery teams in each of its 7 university partners: Leeds Met, Leeds, Trinity & All Saints College, Bradford,  Sheffield Hallam, Huddersfield, and
Hull.

The Centre is to deliver the following objectives by July 2006:

  • Involve 5000 students, graduates, alumni and staff in entrepreneurship education, guidance and assistance
  • Broaden and enhance the resources, skills and materials available to practitioners
  • Increase the awareness of entrepreneurship as a key skill in employability for students
  • Increase the number of graduates entering self-employment within 5 years of graduation

With the expected increase in awareness of support measures developed by the Centre, students can expect:

  • Membership of a 'hub' website offering information and online assistance
  • Improved access to a Mentor bank of experienced business advisers.
  • Access to an ideas and people exchange to help build their idea into a business
  • Various pieces of support material including a Business Enterprise CD/DVD
